How does this site work?

This site allows you to see real world consumption data for most electrical items in your
office or home. You will
probably be suprised with the results. With electricity costs at an all time high everyone needs to look for
ways of turning off all our gadgets when they are not being used. In addition to saving a huge chunk of cash
you will be helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
Simply select the device from the left hand side to see the cost of running the appliance. All our data
comes from users of this site who help by collecting one weeks worth of consumption data. The costs you see
are the real costs not the (sometimes crazy) claims of the manufacturers.
Do I have to register to use this site?
No, you can freely use the site without registration. However if you wish to upload your own consumption data
we do ask you to register so we know who has supplied the data. Your details are not
shown when we display the data to other users. If you do register you can save
all the devices in each room so you can easily see the total cost of all your
equipmeent.
How do I know the data is accurate?
We collect all our data from our users in good faith based on one week of normal usage. Many items have
data from several users so you can see and compare different usage paterns.
My device is not listed
Obviously there are thousands of appliances out there. Our users are continually updating the site with new data. Alternativly
buy yourself a monitoring device and upload the data yourself. The devices cost around £60 and will normally pay for themselves
