The short version

What Does It Cost to Run? links to products on Amazon.com. If you click one of those links and buy something, Amazon may pay us a commission. You pay the same price either way.

What that means for the advice

  • Commission does not decide which products appear. Products are chosen by fit and documented capability, as described in how we research.
  • We do not rank products by what they pay. Several guides recommend a single unit over a multi-pack, or no purchase at all, because that is the right answer for the reader.
  • We do not show live prices or star ratings, and we do not have early access to products, samples or payments from manufacturers.
  • A product link is not a claim that we have tested the product. Each page's evidence label says whether the comparison is research-based or measured.

How to tell which links are affiliate links

Every product button labeled "Check availability on Amazon" is an affiliate link. Links to manufacturer pages, government guidance and other sites are ordinary links. Pages with affiliate links carry a short disclosure above the first product mention.
